Richie Ramsay Wins the South African Open

Richie Ramsay is delighted to have won the South African Open Championship. Now with a few wins added to his already impressive C.V he now hopes to to up his game and take on some of the worlds best golfers when it comes to winning Opens and tournaments. The Aberdonian beat Indian Shiv Kapur in a play off at Pearl Valley on Sunday. Although he is on the way up in the rankings of international golf the real big one for Ramsay at this stage in his carrier is to win the Scottish Open Golf at loch lomond. As this is his own turf it would probably mean just as much to win this tournament than it be to win one of the top 4 major tournaments in golf.

Richie Ramsay was travelling through dangerous driving conditions to make his press conference at the snow covered city of Aberdeen. The Craig Group (his sponsors) have backed Richie since he turned professional back in 2007. The group are specialists in global shipping and energy services and deserve there mention as they have backed Ramsay to the hilt.

Last year he finished 97th in the race to Dubai. This year he wants to get into the top 60. Qualify for the World Golf Championship and then he has the majors in his sights.

He does not set himself easy targets, but he believes in his own ability. The way he performed in recent events proofs that he does has the ability to compete against the best golfers in the world.
